Shape Cafe
Shape Café is a social enterprise in partnership with Southern African Association of Youth Clubs. They use their profits, skills and resources to reinvest in township based businesses. They run a 6 month programme for aspiring township and rural area based social entrepreneurs. We were so inspired by their work and their vision that we made rent free space available in Thabong close to SBK Gym where they can SHAPE the community of Sebokeng.
Pheli FM and Capital Live
Safari partnered with two local based community radio stations Pheli FM from Atteridgeville and Capital Live from Mamelodi. These stations broadcast rent free directly from Atlyn and Denlyn Shopping Centres. Capital Live serves a listeners base of almost 600 000 listeners.
Ingenious Minds
The local marketing agency from Atteridgeville, Ingenious Minds, is now proudly based in Nkomo with Safari granting them office space and furniture. They maintain the Nkomo Village website and manage Nkomo’s Social Media pages. They also assist on an ad hoc basis with the marketing of events and exhibitions at Nkomo Village. We are proud to have small businesses like Ingenious based right at our centre and involved, representing our immediate community and making its voice heard in the marketplace.
Young Girls in Need Swakopmund
Safari Investments in collaboration with the Lions Club in Swakopmund launched “Help for girls in need”. This project provides underprivileged young girls with sanitary products. All eleven schools in the area are beneficiaries of this project. Platz am Meer Waterfront also provides storing space for the sanitary products, making accessibility easy when needed.
Football Legends Association
This soccer tournament was organized by the Soccer Legends as part of their development program. It was a ground breaking experience for the organization as six schools participated with girls teams. Only SAFA accredited referees participated and Safari donated generously for food packages, trophies and jerseys.
Food Forward SA
Established in 2009, Food Forward SA addresses widespread hunger in South Africa. This organization connects a world of excess to a world of need by recovering surplus food from the consumer goods supply chain. They implement an ecosystem that uses surplus food as a catalyst for social change. More than 75% of their Beneficiary Organisation’s focus is on education, youth skills development, women’s empowerment and community upliftment. Safari donated money to this initiative to specifically support organizations around the Thabong Shopping Centre in Sebokeng.Mpho's Dream Centre
Safari supports Mpho’s Dream Centre in Mamelodi where children with autism, cerebral paresis, cerebral palsy and down syndrome are educated and encouraged to develop as a whole. We took hands with Reno Race (SABC 1) to renovate their class rooms and play area. On Mandela Day staff members of Safari as well as several tenants from Denlyn Shopping Centre painted class rooms while local contractors were paid to renovate their facilities. Capital FM broadcasted the event while big hearted community members from Mamelodi helped with the renovations, painting, and cleaning.

Renovation of Sebokeng Old Age Home
In 2019 Thabong Shopping Centre and Reno Race SABC1 renovated the living, dining rooms as well as the kitchen of Sebokeng Old Age Home. After the riots in 2021 they could not buy cleaning material or food at any shopping centre in Sebokeng. Safari purchased food and cleaning material at Denlyn Superspar in Mamelodi and transported it to Sebokeng. The residents were overwhelmed with this generous donation.
Mohau Care Centre
Atlyn and Mnandi donated stationery and female products to Mohau Care Centre.This centre is a non profit organization that assists child-run households where parents had passed away.
Cleaning Campaign at Thabong
After the riots there were numerous offers from the community on Thabong’s Facebook page to assist with a cleanup campaign #cleanupthabong. Twenty volunteers assisted the centre manager of Thabong. Food parcels from SupersparDenlyn were donated to the volunteers that supported Thabong.
Flavuis Mareka High School Sponsorship
This school accommodates learners from a very poor background and relies on government for necessities. Since the matriculants cannot afford a matric dance the school agreed to have a motivational withthe purpose of motivating the learners before the final exam. Nkomo Village sponsored trophies for the top 10 as well as top 3 winners per subject. At this event the Premier of Gauteng David Makhura and our Nkomo Centre Manager Lebo Mofokeng met Happy Manyathela. She lives alone as her mother and father passed away and wrote her matric exam but cannot get her certificate because she has no ID. The Premier and the MEC took it upon themselves to help this young girland they will also be involving Safari to see thisthrough for her.
Grade 1 Stationery Thabong donated stationery ruler-sets to all the grade 1 learners of Siviwe Primary School in Sebokeng. This is not only a marketing and branding exercise but an aim to build a lasting relationship with the school to ensure the opportunity for future intervention programs with "Education is our Future".
Thornhill & School a Friend initiative Thornhill Shopping Centre, together with Waltons and Concept Signs donated 50 pencil bags to the "School a Friend" campaign, the brainchild of 2 young kids from Polokwane. Handouts are made to local schools according to their needs.
OM Pageant Coaching
Oratilwe Mashigo, founder of Sandpaper Victors NPC, (Miss Teen SA 1st princess 2019, Miss Global Beauty 2019 Miss Congeniality) and former UNISA Radio presenter, started a beauty pageant for young girls at Denlyn Mall. She uses the venue on Sunday afternoons to teach self confidence and the ins and outs of beauty pageants. We grant her the opportunity to establish her enterprise and add value to the Mamelodi community.
